How Epoxy Coating Works
Epoxy coating is a durable, high-performance solution made by combining resin and hardener to create a tough, adhesive layer. When applied, the mixture cures into a solid, protective coating that bonds strongly to surfaces like concrete, metal or wood. This coating resists wear, chemicals and corrosion.
Epoxy coatings enhance safety with options like slip-resistant finishes and provide an easy-to-clean, polished appearance. By protecting surfaces from damage and extending their lifespan, epoxy coatings are a cost-effective solution in demanding environments.
Frequently Asked Questions
What is low or no VOC paint?
VOCs (volatile organic compounds) are the fumes that you smell while you paint, or when you walk into a recently painted room. The new paint smell can last for days or even weeks.
VOCs become breathable vapors at room temp and when exposed to the room’s air. When they are breathable, they enter your lungs and bloodstream and are a known health hazard. The VOCs in paint generally come from things like colour or spread—ability and drying agents. You may find the colour that you want is only available in a higher VOC if it’s a darker colour.
VOCs contribute to poor indoor air quality as well as smog and ozone alerts. Concerns about VOCs have reduced the prevalence of oil based paints and increased the availability of latex paints. However, even latex paints can be high in VOCs.
Looking for paints with no more than 250grams of VOC is a good place to start.
